    The Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) held a meeting on Monday to discuss updates to the undergraduate course syllabus. The meeting included core committee members and subject experts from various universities in Telangana.

    TGCHE Chairman, Prof. V Balakista Reddy, along with other key officials, welcomed the participants and thanked them for their involvement. The council noted that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had suggested updating the syllabus to improve students’ job skills.

    To implement these changes, TGCHE formed a committee and invited experts to review the BA Arts & Social Sciences curriculum, including the BA Hons (Telugu) course. These updates are planned for the academic year 2025-26.

    Chairman Prof. Reddy stressed the importance of adopting global best practices and ensuring the syllabus matches current job market demands. He suggested revising about 20 to 30 percent of the syllabus with inputs from experts and regulatory bodies.

    Prof. E Purushotham, the Committee Chairman, explained the need to align the curriculum with industry trends to support students’ employability. He also mentioned that the syllabus should prepare students for national competitive exams.

    A standard template of 150 credits will be introduced for all universities. Additionally, seminars, projects, and internships will become part of the curriculum to provide students with practical learning experiences.

    New courses on emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, and Cybersecurity, will be added. Furthermore, a BA Hons (Telugu) program will be launched at Osmania University.
