A large protest took place at the Gadwal Collector’s office, where hundreds of people gathered to demand the creation of new mandals in the district. The protesters arrived at the office around 11 AM and submitted petitions to the government, urging them to form additional mandals.

Currently, the Gadwal constituency has five mandals, but residents want five more to be established. Similarly, people from Alampur are requesting two additional mandals. Protesters argued that several large villages in the region lack proper development, and creating new mandals would improve administration and provide better facilities. They specifically mentioned villages like Upperu, Pooduru, Medikonda, Baligera, Macharla, Nandinne, Aluru, Bijjaram, Elkuru, and Chintarevula Dam as areas that should be upgraded into mandals.

Residents of Allapadu also participated in the protest, emphasizing that their village needs government attention for development. Protesters insisted that for every 20,000 people, there should be at least one new mandal to ensure effective governance. They also suggested that large villages like Baligera and Macharla should not only become mandals but also be developed into municipalities. Additionally, they demanded an increase in the number of MPTCs (Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies) and that villages with a population of 500 or more should be given new Gram Panchayats for better local governance.
