BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao has criticized the Congress government in Telangana, saying that the state’s gurukul schools, which flourished under the previous BRS rule, are now struggling. He accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of deliberately weakening these residential educational institutions, which were established to support underprivileged students.

KTR claimed that the Congress government is trying to erase the legacy of former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao by neglecting gurukul schools. He compared data from both administrations, stating that during the BRS rule, 1.68 lakh applications were submitted for 41,000 seats in SC, ST, BC, and Minority gurukuls. However, under the Congress government, applications have dropped to 80,000 despite an increase in available seats to 51,000, showing that parents are losing trust in the system.

He blamed this decline on multiple tragic incidents, including student deaths due to snake bites, suicides, and food poisoning. He also pointed out poor hygiene and low-quality food in these institutions. “Parents are now afraid to send their children to these schools,” he said, adding that the Congress government has not even reached out to the families of deceased students.

KTR further accused the Congress leadership of weakening the education system despite the Chief Minister himself handling the education portfolio. He urged the government to immediately review the situation and take corrective steps to protect the future of lakhs of students who depend on gurukul education.
