    Telangana’s government is ready to highlight its progress in the irrigation sector at a national conference in Rajasthan on February 18 and 19.

    State Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy will give a presentation on various reforms in irrigation. His talk will cover digital monitoring of dams and water levels, advanced water management policies, river conservation, floodplain management, and sediment control.

    During a review meeting on irrigation projects, the minister said that the government is preparing a detailed report on these reforms to present at the conference. He instructed officials to gather necessary data to showcase Telangana’s achievements in micro-irrigation with proper statistics.

    Uttam Kumar Reddy emphasized that the conference is important for securing central assistance, additional funding, and more cooperation for the state’s irrigation projects.

    The minister also discussed key issues, such as increasing farmland irrigation at a low cost, completing pending projects, and ensuring the timely release of funds. He directed officials to focus on projects that provide the most irrigation benefits with minimal investment.

    Criticizing the previous government for spending large sums with limited results, he said that the current administration is working towards irrigating an additional 30 lakh acres by speeding up pending projects.

    Officials presented a report on the progress of various projects, including SLBC (Srisailam Left Bank Canal), Dindi, Palamuru-Ranga Reddy, and Devadula lift irrigation schemes. The minister urged them to set deadlines for faster completion and warned that delays or negligence would not be tolerated.

    He also stressed the importance of better monitoring, increased transparency, and efficiency in irrigation projects. Additionally, he encouraged farmers to adopt micro-irrigation techniques like drip and sprinkler systems to conserve water.
