Nagarkurnool District Collector Badavath Santosh recently held a meeting to discuss the resettlement of VatuvarlPalli village from the Amrabad Tiger Reserve core area. Officials confirmed that the relocation plan was approved by the villagers without any external pressure and would be completed as scheduled.
The meeting took place at the Collectorate hall on Friday and included a video conference with Additional Collectors Amarender and Dev Sahayam, along with District Forest Department official Rohith Loto. During the discussion, officials reported that 671 families had voluntarily agreed to relocate. This was documented in village assemblies and district-level meetings.
Among these families, 311 will receive a compensation of ₹15 lakhs as decided in the village assembly. The remaining 360 families will be given land near Bacharam. Each family will receive a 220-square-yard house plot and 2 acres of agricultural land.
To support the resettlement, the Collector instructed officials to speed up the development of infrastructure in the new area. This includes building a CC road, ensuring a proper drinking water supply, providing electricity, and setting up essential facilities such as an Anganwadi center, a primary school, and a Gram Panchayat building.
The main goal of the relocation is to reduce human activity in the forest, which will help protect wildlife and tiger habitats. Officials were also asked to focus on further developing protected areas. Out of 773 resettlement applications, 102 were found ineligible, leaving 671 families eligible for relocation benefits.
