The Telangana High Court heard a case involving former Chief Minister KCR and MLA T Harish Rao. They had filed a petition to cancel an order issued by the Principal Sessions Judge of Jayashankar Bhupalapally on July 10, 2024. This order required them to appear in court.

KCR and Harish Rao are accused of misusing and mishandling large amounts of money during the construction of the Medigadda barrage, which is a part of the Kaleshwaram Irrigation Project. The barrage has since been damaged. A private complaint was filed in the lower court of Jayashankar Bhupalapally district, demanding action against KCR, Harish, and others. The complaint also named Irrigation Secretary Rajat Kumar, former CMO Secretary Smita Sabharwal, Engineer-in-Chief Sridhar, and officials from Megha Constructions and L&T.

Earlier, on January 24, 2024, Justice Kunuru Lakshman had temporarily suspended the order requiring KCR and Harish Rao to appear in court. This provided them with relief from attending proceedings. The judge further extended this relief until February 20, as lawyer Rapolu Bhaskar, who represents the complainant, asked for time to file a counter-affidavit.

The complainant in this case is social activist Nagavelli Rajalingamurthy. He has accused KCR, Harish Rao, and others of misappropriating funds on a large scale during the barrage construction. He claims this led to financial losses worth crores to the government. The case is still ongoing in court.
