Telangana CM Stresses the Need to Record True History of Telangana Movement

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has emphasized the importance of documenting the true history of the Telangana movement. He pointed out that many youth and students made significant sacrifices for the cause, but some individuals have attempted to change the movement’s narrative for their own benefit. To prevent this, he stressed the need to record the real contributions of those who genuinely fought for Telangana’s formation.

Speaking at the launch of Vijaya Telangana, a book written by former minister and Telangana activist Tulla Devender Goud, Revanth Reddy praised the work for providing a people-centric view of the movement. He urged for more books like this to be written to preserve Telangana’s historical legacy.

The book was unveiled in the presence of Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. K. Laxman, and government advisor K. Keshava Rao. During the event, the Chief Minister made several key remarks about the Telangana movement and Devender Goud’s contributions.

Revanth Reddy described Devender Goud as a leader he personally admires and clarified that Vijaya Telangana is not just an autobiography but a comprehensive account of the people’s struggle. He reiterated that some people have tried to manipulate Telangana’s history for their advantage and stressed the importance of properly recording the sacrifices of Telangana’s youth and students.

The Chief Minister also acknowledged Devender Goud’s bold decisions and protests, which played a key role in the movement. He credited Goud’s padyatra (foot march) for helping secure approval for the Pranahita-Chevella project. Additionally, he pointed out that Devender Goud was the first to use “TG” as an abbreviation for Telangana, which later became widely accepted.

Revanth Reddy further noted that even a decade after Telangana’s formation, the government has fulfilled many long-pending demands of the people. This includes recognizing Jaya Jaya He Telangana as the official state song and providing financial aid and housing to nine activists who made supreme sacrifices.

He concluded by stating that Telangana politics needs more value-driven leaders like Devender Goud to ensure the state’s continued progress.
