Former Minister Demands Probe into Cotton Procurement Corruption

Adilabad: Former minister Jogu Ramanna has called for a thorough investigation into corruption in cotton procurement by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) in the district. He urged the Collector to take action against those responsible.

Speaking at a press conference at the BRS office on Thursday, Ramanna stated that CCI had purchased about 25 lakh quintals of cotton from the Adilabad market yard this year. He questioned why the market secretary was suspended, pointing out that it was due to large-scale corruption in the procurement process.

The former minister noted that in the past ten years, there had been no corruption allegations despite larger purchases. He expressed concerns that cotton from neighboring districts and states was being sold under the names of tenant farmers. He also raised suspicions about the involvement of certain officials in these transactions.
