On the occasion of Poornima, a grand festival called Chariotsavam was held at Gangapur Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Asifabad on Wednesday. Many devotees gathered to take part in the celebrations.
The temple was filled with the chants of Lord Venkateswara’s name, creating a spiritual atmosphere. In the evening, the Chariotsavam took place on the banks of Peddavagu. Thousands of devotees watched as the ceremonial idols were carried in a beautifully decorated chariot.
People from different regions, including Asifabad, Mancherial, and Adilabad districts, as well as neighboring Maharashtra, came to offer their prayers to Lord Venkateswara.
Several important officials and leaders also attended the event. MLA Kovalakshmi and her spouse, SP DV Srinivasa Rao, ASP Chittaranjan, MLC Dande Vitthal, DCC President Vishwa Prasad Rao, and former MLA Atram Sakku visited the temple and performed puja. To ensure safety, strict security arrangements were made under the supervision of the SP.
Additionally, many temporary shops were set up along the riverbank to serve the devotees visiting the fair.
