The cotton traders have expressed their gratitude to the government for ensuring smooth cotton procurement and making quick payments to farmers.

Leaders from the Telangana Cotton Association and the Warangal Chamber of Commerce and Industry met with Marketing Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The delegation included association president Bommineni Ravinder Reddy, general secretary Kakkirala Ramesh, and joint secretary Katkuri Nagabhushanam.

As a gesture of appreciation, the traders honored Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao for his continuous support. They also thanked officials from the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) and the Marketing Department for their cooperation.

During the meeting, the traders highlighted challenges faced by the cotton industry in Telangana after the state’s bifurcation. One major issue is the absence of an international-standard cotton testing lab, which makes it difficult to export Telangana’s cotton. They urged the government to allocate one acre of land in Hyderabad for the Telangana Cotton Association, a decision that had been previously considered, to help the industry grow.

The traders also raised concerns about the current state of the Warangal Agricultural Market. They requested that the 35 guntas of land allocated to the Warangal Chamber of Commerce and Industry be given on a nominal lease with permission for necessary construction.

In response, Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao assured them that the issues would be addressed immediately. He directed Marketing Department officials to take the necessary steps to resolve the concerns.
