The Telangana government has made an important decision to provide free sand for constructing Indiramma houses in the state. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has also instructed officials to ensure that sand is available at low prices for the general public.

During a high-level review meeting on mining, the Chief Minister directed officials to clear all pending payments immediately. He also emphasized the need for strict measures to prevent the black marketing of sand, ensuring that it remains accessible to the poor.

Officials have been instructed to conduct inspections at all sand reaches and take action against those involved in sand smuggling. A Special Officer will be appointed to control sand smuggling, and district Collectors and Superintendents of Police (SPs) will be assigned responsibilities to monitor the situation. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HYDRA) will take charge of preventing sand smuggling in the city.

To further curb smuggling, the government plans to introduce several measures. These include setting up vigilance and enforcement teams, installing 360-degree cameras and solar lights at sand reaches, and creating strong fencing around sand stock yards. Additionally, entry and exit points will be established, only registered lorries will be allowed for transportation, and sand deliveries will be ensured within 48 hours of booking. A new system will also be developed to supply sand from the nearest sand reach to the consumer.

The Chief Minister has also ordered the creation of a special portal to address consumer complaints and ensure that sand is sold at a fixed price. He emphasized the need for a tracking system to monitor sand transport vehicles and prevent illegal activities. Additionally, changes will be made to the online booking system, allowing bookings only during office hours. Strict action will be taken against officials found colluding with illegal transporters.

Revanth Reddy warned that he may conduct surprise inspections if needed. He also stressed that only permanent employees should be given responsibilities in a transparent manner, leaving no room for irregularities.
