Hyderabad: Residents of Madhava Hills Colony in Kondapur are facing renewed trouble as a permanent gate has been installed, blocking access to two colonies. This comes despite GHMC’s previous intervention, which had led to the removal of an earlier roadblock.
The move has sparked outrage among residents, especially as HYDRA and GHMC have recently taken action against similar illegal closures in other areas of the city.
Last month, Commissioner Ranganath questioned Nalla Malla Reddy for closing road access in a layout in Pocharam municipality. He asked, “Who gave you the authority to impose these conditions? How are you responsible for protecting the venture? It is the duty of the police and officials, not yours.”
Residents are now urging GHMC and HYDRA to take immediate action against those responsible for this illegal gate installation. The blockade is causing major inconvenience, especially for daily commuters and emergency services.
Because of this road closure, it has become difficult for school children and buses to reach the colony, as this was the main access point. Senior citizens are now forced to take long and inconvenient alternative routes just to leave the colony for their daily needs. The blockage is severely impacting the ease of movement for all residents, especially during emergencies.
Just a month ago, the same residents had completely closed the road, but GHMC ACP Circle-20 and the Zonal Commissioner took prompt action and cleared the blockage. However, despite this intervention, a permanent structure has now been installed, once again blocking access for residents. This repeated disregard for public accessibility has raised serious concerns among locals.
Given the ongoing crackdown on illegal road closures across Hyderabad, locals hope that officials will act swiftly to restore free movement and take legal action against those violating public access rights.
