Water Pipeline Overflow Causes Worries in Hyderabad

Residents in the western parts of Hyderabad are facing serious problems due to overflowing drinking water pipelines. Many have complained to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), but no permanent solution has been provided.

The issue is affecting areas like Nizampet, Pragathi Nagar, Kondapur, and Bachupally. Despite repeated complaints on the HMWSSB’s official website, the problem continues. This has led to a shortage of drinking water, while the wasted water on the roads is making it difficult for people, especially motorcyclists, to commute safely. The main reasons for the problem are poor maintenance and old pipelines that haven’t been replaced for many years.

Sai Teja, a resident of Nizampet, said, “This is the third time we are facing continuous overflow from a damaged drinking water pipeline. Even after informing the officials, the issue remains unsolved. Because of this, we receive water at very low pressure and only once every three or four days, forcing us to depend on water tankers.”

Rahul, a resident of Pragathi Nagar, shared his frustration, saying, “We have been complaining about this issue for months, but no one has taken any action. The main reason for the leakage is the old and rusty pipelines that have never been repaired. If this problem is not fixed soon, the drinking water crisis during the summer will get even worse.”

Residents are urging the authorities to take immediate action to repair or replace the damaged pipelines before the situation worsens.
