BRS MLAs Served Notices for Defection

Hyderabad: In a big political move, the Assembly Secretary has sent notices to 10 BRS MLAs who switched to the Congress after the Assembly elections. This comes after the Supreme Court ordered action against them.

The BRS had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against these MLAs. The court then directed the Assembly Speaker to take action by February 10. The notices ask the defected MLAs to give a written explanation for their decision to switch parties.

The MLAs have asked for more time to respond. Meanwhile, BRS MLA Paidi Kaushik Reddy has filed a petition against three of the defectors—Danam Nagender, Kadiyam Srihari, and Venkat Rao Tellam—urging the court to take action. Another petition has been filed against the other seven MLAs who joined Congress.

Sources say that the defected MLAs have requested extra time to reply to the notices issued on Tuesday. The BRS has now started a legal battle to disqualify them.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao stated that these notices are just the first step toward disqualifying the defected MLAs. He expressed hope that the Speaker would follow the Supreme Court’s directions and take appropriate action.
