Police Bust Gang Involved in Theft in Hyderabad
The Mahankali police in Hyderabad have successfully busted a gang involved in late-night shutter-lifting and house-breaking crimes. Three individuals were arrested, and Rs 28.62 lakh was recovered from their possession.
The arrested suspects were identified as Muralidar Mohanlal Sharma (39) from Thane, Maharashtra, and two individuals from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh—Chandrabhan Patel (39) and Udayraj Singh (48).
According to officials, the accused broke into Deep Engineering Company located at Kandjarguda, Old Bhoiguda, on the night of January 31 and February 1. They lifted the shutter, broke open the locker, and stole Rs 30.2 lakh in cash.
After receiving a complaint about the theft, the police launched an investigation. The DCP North Zone formed two teams that worked extensively by inspecting lodges, analyzing mobile network data, and thoroughly reviewing CCTV footage. This led them to one of the suspects. By pursuing him, the police tracked down the other two suspects at Sitara Lodge in Secunderabad, where they were hiding.
During interrogation, the accused admitted to the crime. They explained that they had previously been involved in the textiles business in the Secunderabad area. However, due to financial losses during the COVID-19 lockdown, they went bankrupt. With their knowledge of local businesses and awareness of cash transactions in the area, they targeted the location for the theft.
The North Zone police have urged the public not to keep large amounts of cash in shops overnight and to report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.
