BJP Leaders Raise Concerns Over Double Bedroom Housing Scheme in Gadwal
BJP leaders in Gadwal, following instructions from senior leader DK Aruna, inspected the Double Bedroom Houses in Doudarpally and voiced concerns about how the houses were being allocated. District BJP President Ramachandra Reddy accused ruling party leaders of failing to keep their promises over the last decade and misleading the public with false assurances.
He also criticized local leaders for frequently switching political parties without addressing the needs of the people. Speaking about past developments, Ramachandra Reddy recalled that in 2018, DK Aruna had allocated over 1,600 plots near Doudarpally for the poor. However, during the 2019-2023 TRS government tenure, then-MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy allegedly seized these plots to build a medical college and Double Bedroom Houses. Some of the affected plot recipients reportedly approached the court for justice.
With the Double Bedroom Housing scheme back in focus, Ramachandra Reddy expressed concerns that ruling Congress leaders might mislead the public again. He criticized the exclusion of several beneficiaries from the 2023 ward sabhas’ Deep selection list and demanded that all originally selected beneficiaries be given houses. He also insisted that those who filed court cases over the seized plots should be compensated with Double Bedroom Houses.
The BJP leaders further raised concerns about the houses built in Gonupadu, calling for a fair and unbiased allocation process. They accused the previous BRS government of misusing ₹3,000 crores allocated under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) for other schemes, which they said denied the poor their rightful housing. The BJP also urged the Congress government to stop misleading the public by renaming PMAY houses as Indiramma Houses and to acknowledge the central government’s contribution to the project.
Additionally, BJP leaders demanded that DK Aruna’s name be included on the inauguration plaques of the Double Bedroom Houses and Medical College. They argued that it was her efforts as a minister that originally led to the allocation of land for these developments.
The inspection and meeting were attended by several BJP leaders, including district general secretary Ravi Kumar Ekbote, district vice president Rajaka Narasimha, KK Reddy, assembly co-convener Ram Anjaneyulu, and town president Rajaka Jayashree. Other prominent leaders present were Bandala Venkata Ramulu, Mirzapuram Venkateshwara Reddy, Devadas, Chittari Kiran, and several mandal and district-level representatives.
