Hyderabad: The BRS working president, KT Rama Rao, on Friday urged the party’s municipal chairpersons to actively engage with the public by presenting a report on the development initiatives carried out by the BRS government over the last decade.
Speaking at a felicitation program for Municipal Chairpersons at Telangana Bhavan, Rama Rao highlighted the transformation of municipalities under the BRS leadership. He remarked that municipalities were in poor condition before the BRS came to power, often referred to by the saying, “Baldiya… Khaya Piya Chaldiya…” (implying inefficiency and corruption). However, after forming the government, Chief Minister KCR emphasized the need for a clear and focused vision to develop cities. This led to the implementation of various programs aimed at transforming cities into thriving economic hubs.
Rama Rao also pointed out that while some countries’ efforts to promote urbanization have failed, governments still have opportunities to focus on the comprehensive development of cities. He explained that expanding cities might not always be an option, but improving their infrastructure and services is achievable. Over the past ten years, the BRS government prioritized urban development, presenting their achievements to the public through detailed development reports.
He emphasized that the progress witnessed in cities over the last decade was the result of consistent efforts and not mere discussions or promises.
