Hyderabad: Dr. Himanshu Pathak, the Director General of ICAR, New Delhi, and the soon-to-be Director General of ICRISAT, Hyderabad, met with Professor Aladas Janaiah, the Vice Chancellor of Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTSAU), on Wednesday. Dr. Pathak was recently appointed as the Director General of ICRISAT and is set to take on the role in March 2025. As part of his official visit to Hyderabad, Dr. Pathak made a courtesy call to PJTSAU to meet with the Vice Chancellor.
During their meeting, Professor Janaiah congratulated Dr. Pathak on his new position and encouraged strengthening the collaboration between ICRISAT and PJTSAU. He also requested technical support from ICRISAT to improve the production of oilseeds, pulses, and millet crops in Telangana.
Dr. Pathak welcomed the suggestions and promised full support to boost agricultural development in the state. The two also reminisced about their shared history, recalling their time as batchmates at ICAR and their work as scientists at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in the Philippines.
