Priests in Telangana Receive Salary After Months of Struggle
Priests across Telangana have been facing severe financial difficulties due to a lack of salaries for several months. Acharya Chakravarti, the Jogulamba Gadwal District President of the Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyam Scheme (DDNS), expressed his gratitude to the Telangana state government for taking steps to address this issue.
Thanks to the efforts of State Advisor Harkara Venu Gopala Rao, Commissioner Sridhar, and other key officials like State President Vasudeva Sharma, Secretaries Prasad and Venkatacharyulu, and Mahabubnagar District President Ravi Mahesh Lakshmikant, salaries for two months were finally disbursed. This has brought much-needed relief to around 6,748 priest families across the state.
Chakravarti Chary thanked the government and officials for their support but also highlighted the need to solve the priests’ ongoing financial struggles. He pointed out that many priests are surviving on extremely low salaries, which is not enough to meet their basic needs.
On behalf of the State Association, he appealed to the government to ensure that every priest receives a monthly salary of ₹25,000. He also called for the cooperation of Revanth Reddy’s government to provide more assistance to priests in the future.
