Villagers Demand Restoration of Bus Service
Residents of Pedda Tandrapadu village in Rajoli Mandal have requested the reintroduction of a key bus service that was discontinued following the COVID-19 lockdown. On Monday, they submitted a petition to RTC Traffic Inspector Srinivas Shetty at the Gadwal RTC Depot, urging the restoration of the bus route between Shantinagar and Pedda Tandrapadu.
Before the pandemic, a regular bus service operated along this route, providing vital transportation for villagers. However, even after lockdown restrictions were lifted, the service was not resumed. This has caused significant difficulties for residents of Pedda Tandrapadu and nearby villages, including Konkal, Mundladinne, and Tummilla.
The lack of public transport has particularly impacted students, women, and daily commuters who depend on the bus service for their everyday needs. During the meeting, the villagers emphasized the pressing need for accessible transportation and pleaded for the immediate restoration of the route.
Responding to their concerns, Traffic Inspector Srinivas Shetty explained that the Gadwal RTC Depot currently faces a shortage of buses. He stated that 29 additional buses are urgently needed to meet the demands of various routes. Shetty assured the villagers that the issue has been brought to the attention of the government but noted that he could not guarantee the resumption of the service until the depot’s requirements are met.
The petition was signed and submitted by residents, including Thimmoti, Ravi, Dev Varam, and Esepu, who are hopeful that their concerns will be addressed soon.
