Hyderabad Airport Launches Fast Track Immigration for Indian Nationals and OCI Cardholders
The GMR Hyderabad International Airport has introduced the Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP), a first-of-its-kind initiative by the Government of India. This program is specifically designed for Indian passport holders and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders to make travel faster and more convenient.
Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah inaugurated the programme virtually, unveiling dedicated counters at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) for Trusted Traveller Programme beneficiaries. The initiative aims to provide a more seamless and secure travel experience, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving travel efficiency for eligible passengers.
To join the FTI-TTP, individuals need to apply online through the official government website at www.ftittp.mha.gov.in. Applicants must ensure their passport has at least six months of validity, as the membership will expire when the passport expires. The registration process, which may take up to one month, requires applicants to provide their biometrics (fingerprints and facial images) and other necessary details. Registration will be completed after thorough verification and confirmation of eligibility by the Bureau of Immigration.
This program is expected to ease congestion at airports by offering faster emigration and immigration clearance for pre-verified travellers. RGIA has installed eight electronic gates—four for arrivals and four for departures—to assist FTI-TTP participants. More counters may be added in the future based on demand.
Pradeep Panicker, CEO of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), expressed his pride in the initiative, saying, “As a pioneer in embracing new technology and committed to enhancing air travel, Hyderabad airport is proud to play a key role in the launch of FTI-TTP. This technology-driven initiative will simplify and accelerate the immigration process, making travel faster and more efficient.”
The process for using FTI-TTP is straightforward. After registration is approved, passengers will receive an email or SMS to proceed with biometric enrollment. This can be completed at either the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or a dedicated enrollment counter at RGIA.
At the time of travel, registered passengers must visit the airline check-in counter for visa verification and to collect their boarding pass. Afterward, they can proceed to the dedicated TTP e-gates in the immigration area. At the first e-gate, passengers will scan their passport and boarding pass. Upon successful verification, they will move to the next e-gate, where their facial image will be scanned. If verified, the emigration or immigration process will be completed.
This initiative by the government aims to provide a smoother travel experience while leveraging advanced technology to reduce waiting times and enhance security at airports.
