Hyderabad: The Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) has announced major changes to the undergraduate curriculum to meet global standards in higher education and employment. These reforms aim to prepare students for the evolving job market by combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills.

According to TGCHE Chairman Prof. V. Balakista Reddy, the updated curriculum will focus on practical, industry-relevant learning. The key goals include equipping students with skills that improve their employability and make them competitive on a global scale. This initiative is designed to bridge the gap between education and industry requirements.

To ensure the success of these changes, subject-specific committees led by TGCHE leadership will oversee the syllabus revisions. TGCHE is also seeking input from various stakeholders, including academicians, industry experts, students, and policymakers, to make the process collaborative and inclusive.

For transparency, TGCHE has released its “Proposal for Reforms and Strengthening the Telangana Higher Education System” on its official website, www.tgche.ac.in. Stakeholders can provide feedback through a Google form available on the site. Suggestions are being sought in areas such as technology integration, curriculum updates, research and development, skill-building, internships, entrepreneurship, and infrastructure improvement.

In addition to curriculum reforms, TGCHE is introducing a new internship programme aimed at connecting academia with industry. Called the Bridge Academia and Industry (BAI) programme, it will provide practical exposure to students, recent graduates, and young professionals in areas like higher education governance, policy-making, and institutional management. This initiative aligns with UGC guidelines for research and internship opportunities.

Prof. Balakista Reddy explained that the internship programme is designed to give participants hands-on experience in governance, policy-making, and project management. It aims to link academic learning with real-world challenges, foster innovative thinking, and prepare a skilled workforce to address contemporary issues like digital transformation and sustainability.

Participants in the internship programme will benefit from real-world project experience, skill development in policy analysis and project management, networking opportunities with industry leaders, and certificates of completion with recommendations for outstanding performance. For TGCHE, the programme brings additional benefits, such as access to young talent, enhanced research capacity, and strengthened collaboration with academic institutions.

“This internship programme reflects TGCHE’s commitment to creating a future-ready education system and empowering the next generation of leaders,” added Prof. Reddy. Those interested in learning more or submitting feedback can visit the TGCHE website at www.tgche.ac.in.
