Congress Prepares for Upcoming MLC Elections
The Congress party has started the process of selecting candidates for the upcoming MLC (Member of the Legislative Council) elections. In these elections, the party plans to field a candidate for one Graduate constituency. However, for the two Teachers constituencies, Congress will not contest directly. Instead, it will support candidates put forward by its allies, including the Left parties and their affiliated organizations.
For the Graduate constituency of Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar, the Congress is expected to announce its candidate soon. Several names are being considered for this seat. Key contenders include Velichala Rajender Rao, who was the party’s MP candidate from Karimnagar, former DSP Madanam Gangadhar, and prominent educationist V. Narender Reddy, chairman of Alphores Educational Institutions. TPCC (Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee) chief B. Mahesh Kumar Goud stated that the party would finalize the candidate within two to three days.
Meanwhile, the CPI (Communist Party of India), which is in alliance with the Congress, has not yet announced its candidates for the two Teachers constituencies. These constituencies include Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda and Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar. Similarly, the CPM (Communist Party of India-Marxist), which is part of the INDIA alliance at the national level, and its affiliated teachers’ organizations have yet to decide whether they will field candidates.
With the terms of the current MLCs for the three constituencies ending soon, the election notification is expected to be issued in the coming days.
