Telangana Strengthens Its Role as a Global Innovation Hub
Hyderabad: Telangana is reinforcing its position as a global hub for innovation and a thriving destination for startups, according to IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Global Innovation Hub by Netherlands-based ARIQT in Raidurgam, the Minister announced that the facility would create 300 new job opportunities.
Sridhar Babu highlighted the remarkable growth of Telangana’s IT sector over the last two decades. He stated that the state’s GDP and per capita income have now exceeded the national average. “Telangana’s annual IT exports have reached an impressive $30 billion. The state is home to more than 6,000 startups and around 1,500 small and medium-sized software companies,” he said. The Minister also noted that many global organizations are setting up Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in the state, further boosting employment opportunities for the youth.
The Minister emphasized the importance of skilled human resources for industrial growth. He praised initiatives like the Young India Skills University, which aims to equip the workforce with the skills needed to meet the demands of modern industries. “This university will help Telangana become a leading hub of skilled talent,” he said.
Sridhar Babu also spoke about the state’s commitment to good governance. “Telangana is setting an example for other Indian states by delivering excellent civic services directly to citizens,” he said. He added that emerging technologies are being used to improve public services and invited companies to collaborate with the state on its transformative journey.
Reiterating Hyderabad’s reputation as a “Talent City,” “Tech City,” and “Innovation City,” the Minister highlighted the city’s strengths. “Hyderabad is not just a software hub but also a leader in industries like pharma and biotech. With world-class infrastructure and a highly skilled workforce, it continues to attract businesses from various sectors,” he said.
The Minister also discussed the dual nature of emerging technologies, acknowledging the opportunities and challenges they bring. He encouraged innovators to address these challenges and highlighted Telangana’s efforts to prepare its youth for jobs in advanced technologies.
“Telangana is actively equipping its young generation to seize opportunities in cutting-edge industries,” he concluded.
