Hyderabad: State Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy has stressed the importance of ensuring that farmers at the tail-end of the irrigation system receive sufficient water during the Yasangi (Rabi) 2024-25 season.

During a review meeting held at Jalasoudha on Friday, the Minister reviewed a presentation on water regulation under the Sriram Sagar Project (SRSP). He instructed officials to implement a strict “tail-to-head” water regulation system to ensure fair distribution of water across all areas.

The Minister highlighted the critical role of major canals, including the Kakatiya Main Canal, Saraswathi Canal, and Laxmi Canal, in distributing water effectively. He also mentioned the importance of the Choutpally Hanmanth Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme in facilitating water supply. To ensure uninterrupted water flow, he urged officials to carry out timely maintenance of these canals, such as clearing vegetation and fixing operational issues.
