Development Works Begin in Santosh Nagar with Rs 2.5 Crore Budget

Developmental works worth Rs 2.5 crore have commenced in the Santosh Nagar circle, Hyderabad. These projects include laying new sewerage and drinking water pipelines, beautifying junctions, and re-carpeting roads.

Residents in areas such as Old Santosh Nagar Colony, New Santosh Nagar Colony, Azad Nagar, and CRIDA Road have been facing serious issues like sewage overflow and insufficient drinking water. The root cause is outdated infrastructure that hasn’t kept pace with the area’s growing needs. To tackle these problems, authorities have begun upgrading the pipeline systems.

The budget allocation of Rs 2.5 crore has given a significant boost to these efforts. According to Santosh Nagar corporator Mohammed Muzaffar Hussain, the works began a week ago after the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) sanctioned funds for the Santosh Nagar division under the Yakutpura constituency. He assured residents that the projects are being expedited to minimize disruptions and will be completed on schedule.

“The works have been divided into phases. The first phase, costing Rs 2.5 crore, is currently underway. Once this phase is completed, the remaining phases will begin,” explained Muzaffar.

Various improvement projects are in progress. For instance, a sewerage pipeline worth Rs 50 lakh is being laid between Rumaan Hotel at Santosh Nagar X Roads and CRIDA Road. Junction beautification near the CRIDA road water tank, costing Rs 10 lakh, is also ongoing. Additionally, works on Milad Road, valued at Rs 45 lakh, have started.

In Old Santosh Nagar Colony, the sewage pipeline is being remodeled for Rs 32 lakh. Similarly, improvements worth Rs 3 lakh are underway in Maulana Azad Nagar. Other ongoing projects include a drain pipe on CC Road near Ravindra Bharathi School (Rs 22 lakh) and a drinking water pipeline in Aditya Colony (Rs 12 lakh).

Residents have long struggled with frequent sewage overflows, which occur every few days. With more buildings and apartments being constructed in the area, these civic challenges have only worsened.

“After raising the issue with the MLA and corporator, the works have finally started. I hope the remodelling of the sewerage system will resolve the problem and prevent further inconvenience,” said Mohammed Riyaz, a resident.

The developmental works, once completed, are expected to provide much-needed relief to the residents and improve the overall infrastructure in Santosh Nagar.
