Gadwal Protest Against Supreme Court Decision

In Gadwal, Telangana Mala Mahanadu state executive member Mala Mallikarjuna strongly criticized the preventive arrests of their leaders by the Aija police. These arrests were made in response to the “Chalo Assembly” protest organized against a Supreme Court decision. Speaking at the Aija police station, Mallikarjuna condemned the arrests as unjust and unfair.

The Supreme Court’s decision on August 1 gave state governments the authority to classify Scheduled Castes (SC) into specific categories. This sparked opposition from the Telangana Mala associations, who viewed the decision as discriminatory. To voice their concerns, the Mala community planned the “Chalo Assembly” program as a form of protest.

Mala Mallikarjuna also criticized Telangana Chief Minister Enumula Revanth Reddy for supporting the Supreme Court’s recommendation. He alleged that the Chief Minister’s approval of the classification law was a betrayal of the Mala community, which had supported the Congress party in its rise to power. He further accused the Congress of aligning with leaders like Manda Krishna Madiga, whom he claimed were connected to reactionary forces.

The Mala community sees the Supreme Court’s verdict as biased and unconstitutional. Mallikarjuna emphasized that they would continue to fight for a fair and constitutionally valid classification of Scheduled Castes. He urged the government to act responsibly and reconsider its stance on the matter.

Several leaders were arrested as part of the preventive measures, including state executive member Mala Mallikarjuna, former mandal president Shivaraj, district leaders Bhakta Krishna and Tractor Nagaraju, Mestri Lakshmanna, and youth wing leaders such as Mala Suresh Kumar, Mala Veeresh, Bandala Maddileti, Mallesh, Tirumalesh, Mala Paramesh, and Mala Muniswamy. Their detention has drawn widespread criticism from the Mala community.
