Chief Minister Revanth Reddy highlighted the importance of Gurukul schools as centers for developing multifaceted talent during his recent visit to a Gurukul school in Chilukuru. He announced the introduction of a unified diet plan for Gurukuls and welfare hostels. This new menu is designed to meet the needs of students from BC, SC, ST, and minority communities who study in these institutions.

During a meeting held in connection with his visit, the Chief Minister reflected on the historical importance of the Gurukul system, which was initiated during former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao’s tenure. He shared that the state government had increased diet charges by 40 percent, the first such hike in over a decade. Additionally, he pointed out that cosmetic charges for students had not been updated for 16 years.

Revanth Reddy praised the Gurukul Path program for its emphasis on nurturing student talent. He noted that many successful individuals, such as TGPSC Chairman Burra Venkatesham and former DGP Mahender Reddy, are proud alumni of Gurukuls. While acknowledging the decline in Gurukuls’ prominence due to the growth of private schools, he assured everyone that the government is committed to restoring their importance.
