Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) Managing Director, Ashok Reddy, inspected the arrangements for drinking water at the closing ceremony of the ‘Praja Palana Vijayotsavalu’ on Sunday.
To cater to the public attending the event at Hussain Sagar, 45 water camps have been established. Initially, 40 camps were set up with drinking water facilities. However, due to high demand, five additional camps have been added. Ashok Reddy assured that more camps will be arranged if needed, based on the size of the crowd.
In the past two days, six lakh freshwater packets have been distributed to people in the area. For the closing ceremony tomorrow, an additional three lakh water packets have been prepared. Apart from packets, drinking water has also been provided in bottles and drums to ensure ample supply for attendees.
The Water Board Quality Assurance Team (QAT) is continuously testing the water quality at these camps to maintain proper chlorine levels and ensure safety. Preventive measures have also been taken to avoid water leakages and sewage overflows along the routes where the celebrations are being held.
To monitor and manage the arrangements, nodal officers have been appointed to supervise the water camps. Additionally, two control rooms have been set up at Tank Bund and NTR Marg to address any issues that may arise during the event.
