Nalgonda: SLBC Tunnel Renamed as RR Project to Honor Leaders

The SLBC (Srisailam Left Bank Canal) tunnel will now be called the RR Project. This announcement was made by Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy during a public meeting at the SLBC site in Nalgonda on Saturday. He explained that the late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy laid the foundation for the project, while the current Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, allocated funds to complete it. To recognize their efforts, the project will bear their initials, RR, standing for Rajasekhara Reddy and Revanth Reddy.

Minister Komatireddy criticized the previous BRS government, accusing them of neglecting projects in the district over the past decade. He claimed that Chief Minister KCR deliberately withheld funds for Nalgonda’s development, suggesting it was done to prevent him from gaining recognition.

The minister also shared that he was sent to the United States to procure advanced boring equipment to speed up the SLBC tunnel’s completion. He assured the public that the project would be finished within two years and promised irrigation for 50,000 acres of land in Brahmana Vellemla within six months.

Komatireddy expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for approving funds for Nalgonda’s development without any requests. He highlighted several initiatives in the district, including the establishment of junior colleges, a skill development center for Kanagal and Thipparthi mandals, and developmental works worth Rs 800 crore. Additionally, he announced plans for a new dental college in the area.

The minister urged people to support the Congress party in the upcoming elections for sarpanch, MPTC, and ZPTC positions. He concluded his speech with a promise to transform Nalgonda into a “golden hill” under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, while seeking continued public backing for the Congress party.

The renaming of the tunnel as the RR Project is seen as a tribute to the contributions of YS Rajasekhara Reddy and Revanth Reddy in advancing the region’s development.
