Shakti Abhiyan Members Visit Adilabad to Learn Tribal Lifestyle
Shakti Abhiyan and Indira Fellowship members from different States visited Adilabad Rural mandal as part of their three-day training program. They aimed to understand the lifestyle and traditions of tribal communities in the region.
The visitors were divided into five groups and stayed in various tribal villages, including Khandala, Pothaguda, Dar Loddi, Cheech Dhari, Poitamloddi, and Alikori, on Wednesday night. This immersive experience allowed them to connect closely with the locals.
On Thursday morning, the members actively participated in daily chores alongside the tribal residents. They engaged in activities such as housework, farming, fishing, and weaving baskets using bamboo sticks. They also observed the “stone centre system,” learned about tribal cultural practices, and tasted traditional tribal food.
The tribals welcomed the visitors warmly, following their traditional customs. Many notable participants attended the program, including Shakti Abhiyan national chairman Mani Sharma, national coordinator Dr. Saujanya, State coordinator Shivalal, and others. Local tribal leaders, Indira Fellowship members, and Shakti Abhiyan coordinators also joined the event. The program was conducted under the leadership of Indira Fellowship Coordinator and Congress Adilabad Parliament in-charge, Atram Sugunakka.
During the event, Sugunakka explained that the training sessions covered topics such as tribal laws, tribal movements, and forest rights. She highlighted that this was the first time in the country that a three-day Shakti Abhiyan training program was being held in Adilabad district.
Sugunakka further shared that the Shakti Abhiyan organization was established based on the vision of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The goal of the initiative is to create a platform that empowers women politically, socially, and economically, and fights for their rights in all spheres of life.
