Group-2 and RRB JE Exams on Same Day: Candidates Seek High Court Intervention
Candidates are facing a major scheduling conflict as the Group-2 exams and the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Junior Engineer (JE) exams are set to take place on overlapping dates. Many of these candidates, who are eligible for both exams, are now preparing to take legal action to address the issue.
A petition will be filed in the High Court on Monday, requesting the postponement of the Group-2 exams. Despite raising their concerns with the government, candidates feel that no action has been taken to resolve the clash. This has forced them to escalate the matter legally.
The Railway Department is currently filling 7,951 Junior Engineer positions. These posts are open to candidates with B.Tech and other degree qualifications. A significant number of B.Tech-qualified individuals have also applied for the Group-2 exams, creating a dilemma for those who want to attend both.
The Group-2 exams are scheduled for the 15th and 16th of this month, while the RRB JE exam is set to take place on the 16th. With both exams overlapping, candidates are urging authorities to postpone the Group-2 exams to avoid losing out on either opportunity.
A petition was initially submitted to the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) Chairman, but since no resolution was reached and preparations for the exams are already underway, the candidates have decided to move forward with legal action. They have also formed a WhatsApp group to coordinate their efforts.
One of the petitioners, R. Jyoti, expressed frustration over the government’s lack of response. She urged authorities not to be rigid and to consider the plight of the affected candidates. According to her, both exams hold significant importance for the candidates’ careers, and the scheduling conflict has caused immense stress.
Candidates also pointed out that the RRB Junior Engineer notification was released after many years, while the Group-2 notification came after an eight-year gap. They feel it is unfair to force them to choose between the two, especially given the long wait for such opportunities.
Despite repeated appeals for postponement, candidates believe their concerns have been ignored. Left with no other option, they hope the High Court will intervene and provide a fair resolution to this predicament.
