30 Students Fall Sick After Mid-Day Meal in Telangana School

Concerns about the safety of mid-day meals in Telangana schools have grown after 30 students from Maganoor Zilla Parishad High School fell ill on Tuesday. This is the second such incident within a week, raising serious questions about the quality of food served under the government’s mid-day meal scheme.

The students reportedly began experiencing severe stomach pain, nausea, and dehydration shortly after eating their lunch. They were initially taken to a nearby Area Hospital for treatment. Later, for better medical care, they were shifted to Makthal Area Hospital using private transportation. Thankfully, all the affected students are now in stable condition and are being closely monitored by medical staff.

This incident follows a similar case last Thursday at another school, which caused widespread concern. That earlier incident led to the suspension of both the headmaster and the meal service provider after an initial investigation, following the intervention of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

Despite these measures, the latest case has sparked renewed fears among parents and community members. Many are demanding stricter food safety regulations and questioning the effectiveness of existing quality checks and the accountability of those involved in preparing the meals.

The state education department has responded by launching an investigation into the incident. Officials have assured worried parents that steps will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future, with a focus on improving hygiene and ensuring safety in the mid-day meal program.

These repeated occurrences have triggered a larger debate about the management and oversight of the mid-day meal initiative. Many are calling for immediate reforms to protect students’ health and restore confidence in the program.
