Hyderabad: Crackdown on Fake Doctors in Nizamabad District

A team from the Telangana Medical Council, led by chairman Dr. Mahesh Kumar, has taken strict action against fake doctors operating in the Dichpally, Manchippa, and Indalwai areas of Nizamabad district. The operation targeted individuals practicing medicine illegally, including Registered Medical Practitioners (RMPs) and Private Medical Practitioners (PMPs).

The council acted upon complaints from local residents and public representatives about unqualified individuals posing as doctors. Dr. Mahesh Kumar, along with team members Dr. Sunny Davis and Dr. Sirish, conducted surprise inspections at clinics in the area. During these inspections, it was discovered that fake doctors were running clinics without the approval of the district medical officer.

The inspections revealed that individuals like Vittal Singh in Manchippa, Gangadhar in Indalwai, and Narasimhulu, Goli Sandeep, and Sriram Dattadri in Dichpally were providing treatments. They were found administering high-dose antibiotics, steroids, painkillers, and saline injections to patients, often unnecessarily. These practices were not only illegal but also posed serious risks to the health of unsuspecting patients.

Dr. Mahesh Kumar emphasized that practicing modern medicine without an MBBS degree or approval from the Telangana Medical Council violates the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act. He urged the public to be cautious and avoid seeking treatment from unqualified individuals using titles like RMP or PMP, as they are not legitimate doctors.

Legal action is being taken against the accused. Dr. Mahesh Kumar stated that an FIR would be filed under Sections 34 and 54 of the NMC Act. Those found guilty could face up to one year in prison and a fine of up to Rs. 5 lakh. He reiterated the importance of ensuring that medical practitioners are properly qualified and licensed to protect public health.
