Hyderabad: The Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) officials have taken action against an Ayurvedic doctor for violating medical regulations. The doctor was found prescribing allopathic medicines, including high-dose antibiotics, to pregnant women, which is against the rules.
The TGMC conducted inspections in areas like Champapet, Karmanghat, and Saidabad in Hyderabad. A team led by Vice Chairman Dr. Srinivas, along with members Dr. Imran Ali and Dr. Rajiv, inspected 20 clinics during their drive. Out of these, cases were registered against ten fake doctors.
During the inspections, an Ayurvedic doctor was caught giving allopathic medicines to a pregnant woman. Additionally, two other Ayurvedic doctors, Dr. Ramesh and Dr. Veeresh, were found prescribing high doses of antibiotics, steroids, and other allopathic drugs, which is not permitted under their practice.
Dr. Imran Ali stated that the Council would file a complaint with the District Health and Medical Officer. He also mentioned that so far, around 350 FIRs have been registered across Telangana against unqualified or fake medical practitioners (PMPs). Those found guilty could face up to one year in prison along with a penalty of ₹5 lakh.
