A Khammam couple is currently recovering in a Hyderabad hospital after a successful liver transplant. The husband, Dharawat Srinu, works at the APGVB Bank in Khammam and hails from Pedda Erlapudi in Raghunathapalem mandal. He and his wife, Lavanya, are parents to two daughters. Lavanya is also a final-year law student.
A few years ago, Srinu fell seriously ill and sought medical help at a private hospital in Khammam. After conducting tests, doctors diagnosed him with a liver condition. Despite their efforts to cure him through various treatments and spending large sums of money, his health did not improve. Eventually, doctors concluded that a liver transplant was the only solution to save his life.
The couple worked tirelessly to find a suitable liver donor, but their search was unsuccessful. In a selfless act, Lavanya decided to step forward and donate a portion of her liver to save her husband. After undergoing necessary tests, specialists confirmed that she was a suitable donor.
The transplant surgery was performed at KIMS Hospital in Secunderabad. Surgeons removed 65% of Lavanya’s liver and successfully implanted it into Srinu. The procedure went smoothly, and both Srinu and Lavanya are now recovering well.
