Hyderabad: The Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TGSPDCL) has introduced 101 new Emergency Response Team vehicles to quickly address power supply interruptions and emergencies in its service areas.
Each vehicle comes equipped with an assistant engineer, three skilled workers, and essential tools to handle power issues. These tools include a walkie-talkie, a thermovision camera, safety gear like helmets, gloves, and belts, as well as various equipment such as cables, ladders, fuse wires, and even a wood cutter. The vehicles are also designed to transport a 100 KVA capacity distribution transformer and can comfortably carry the four-member team.
After seeing the success of similar vehicles introduced last month, TGSPDCL’s chairman and managing director, Musharraf Faruqui, decided to allocate 101 more vehicles. Of these, 50 will be stationed in the metro zone, 21 in the Rangareddy zone, 19 in the Medchal zone, and 11 in rural areas. These vehicles will be operational by December of this year, replacing or supplementing the existing vehicles already in use.
