Hyderabad: Prominent leaders from political and social organizations gathered at Iqbal Minar in Khairatabad to honor the famous poet and philosopher, Allama Iqbal, on his 147th birth anniversary on Saturday.
The event was organized by Tahreek Muslim Shabban president Mohammed Mushtaq Mallik. He spoke about how Allama Iqbal played a key role in promoting ideological empowerment and how he stood for dignity and self-respect. Mallik also mentioned that Iqbal had a profound impact on literature and that his influence remains strong in the nation’s collective memory.
Amjedullah Khan, the spokesperson for the MBT, highlighted the lasting importance of Iqbal’s poetry, especially for younger generations. He noted that Iqbal’s works, such as the famous song “Sare Jahan Se Acha,” continue to inspire pride in cultural heritage and serve as a symbol of unity and strength.
Syed Nizamuddin, a spokesperson for the PCC, emphasized that even 86 years after Iqbal’s death, his creative legacy still inspires millions of people around the world. He explained that Iqbal’s vision of cultural and intellectual unity remains relevant today. Nizamuddin also mentioned some of Iqbal’s most famous works, including “Sare Jahan Se Acha,” “Shikwa,” and “Jawab-e-Shikwa,” as lasting symbols of cultural pride and intellectual depth.
The Iqbal Minar, where the event was held, was inaugurated on April 21, 1988, by the then-Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao. This was done to mark the 50th death anniversary of Allama Iqbal.
