Hyderabad: Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy, has urged officials to work hard to properly implement schemes from both the central and state governments.

On Friday, he led a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA). During the meeting, he reviewed the progress of various programs, including the Swachh Bharat Mission and the Mudra loan scheme.

Speaking to the media later, Kishan Reddy expressed concern about the poor implementation of central government schemes, especially those aimed at providing residential schools and hostels for minority communities. He pointed out that many states are facing a lack of land for Anganwadi schools and hostels meant for backward classes (BC), scheduled castes (SC), and scheduled tribes (ST). He also noted that the rapid spread of slums in Hyderabad is becoming a major issue. He stressed that all government schemes should be executed transparently and urged officials to review their progress every three months.

The Union Minister also highlighted that 70-80 percent of the state’s revenue comes from Hyderabad. However, despite this, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Metro Water Works are struggling with a lack of funds. He called on the state government to take responsibility for ensuring basic infrastructure in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas.

During the DISHA meeting, Kishan Reddy questioned officials, including those from GHMC, about how much money was allocated through central government schemes aimed at benefiting the poor and women’s groups. He expressed dissatisfaction with the information provided by the officials, pointing out that despite significant funding, the goals are not being met. He emphasized the importance of clear reporting to ensure that funds are used effectively to help the poor and women.
