Hyderabad: Efforts are speeding up to increase reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) in local body elections. This is happening after receiving guidelines from the Supreme Court. To make this possible, a special committee has been created to work on expanding BC reservations. The committee has been told to give its recommendations by the end of this month.
The Chairman of the committee, Venkateshwar Rao, will start visiting different districts on Monday. His goal is to gather feedback from BC community organizations. During these visits, the committee will collect petitions from BC associations in various areas to understand their concerns and suggestions.
Because a caste-based survey is currently happening, the process might take a little more time. However, the committee members are determined to review all the important information and make recommendations after considering the feedback they receive.
These recommendations will be very important for expanding BC reservations. The committee is working hard to provide timely action. The state government is also focused on making sure these changes are carried out smoothly to meet the needs of the BC communities.
