Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister of the state, Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, announced the launch of a socio-economic, education, political, and caste census. This census aims to help uplift marginalized communities in the state. The collected data will be used to fix issues in the distribution of welfare and development programs, especially for backward sections of society.

During a press conference, the Deputy CM mentioned that this caste census is a significant step at the national level. He also suggested that the government will consider providing job and education reservations to underprivileged communities based on the survey results.

Bhatti urged people to cooperate with the enumerators and provide accurate information. He assured that the survey would not affect anyone’s ration cards or welfare benefits. He further stated that all necessary arrangements are in place to complete the survey on time.

For the census, one enumerator has been assigned for every 150 people, while one supervisor will oversee 10 enumerators. In total, 94,750 enumerators have been deployed across the state, with 24,480 officials working in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area to conduct house-to-house surveys.

He criticized the previous BRS government for using outdated data and explained that this new survey is essential to understand the current social, economic, and political conditions of all communities.
