A 21-year-old man from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, has been arrested by the Cyberabad cyber crime police for cyber stalking. The accused, named M Ramakrishna, is a third-year B Tech student. He was involved in stalking a woman using morphed photos on social media.
The incident began when the victim reported receiving a message on Telegram from an unknown user. This person had accessed her personal information, including photos from her Instagram account. The police registered the case on October 22.
According to the police, the suspect initially pretended to be a friend. However, he soon started sending morphed nude images of the victim and threatened to share them with her friends and family. Despite the victim’s efforts to ignore the messages, the harassment continued.
The investigation, led by Inspector P Narendra Reddy, revealed that Ramakrishna had manipulated images of several victims using AI tools to create inappropriate content. He was tracked down through his Telegram ID and arrested in Guntur. The police also seized a mobile phone containing many morphed images of other victims.
The Cybercrime police have advised citizens to be cautious when sharing personal photos on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook.
