    Hyderabad: Telangana Director General of Police, Dr. Jitender, inaugurated the Incredible India Telangana Blind Challenge Cup 2024 at the Water Works Stadium in Amberpet on Monday. The event was organized by the Telangana Development Association of the Blind and the Telangana Districts Cricket Association (TDCA).

    This tournament aims to promote inclusive sports by encouraging blind cricket. During the event, Dr. Jitender expressed the police department’s commitment to supporting visually impaired athletes. He also met and interacted with the players, conducted the toss, started the first match, and even played briefly to inspire the participants.

    Several notable attendees were present at the event. These included Allipuram Venkateshwara Reddy, the founder president of TDCA and former chairman of the Telangana Sports Authority; Praveen Kumar Nedungadi, COO and MD of Incredible India Projects; Saridena Rahul Rao, Director; B Shailaja, Director of Disabilities and Senior Citizens for the Telangana State Government; Srisailam, General Secretary of the Development Association of the Blind; senior cricketer Surender Reddy; Umar Khan, Chairman of the Helen Keller Research Institute for Rehabilitation of Disabled Children; and other TDCA members, including Mateen and SATS Cricket Coach Raj Shekhar.

    The tournament, which started on November 4 and will run until November 7, features exciting matches over four days. Six men’s teams and two women’s teams are participating. The men’s teams include Deccan Smashers, Game Changers, Ultimate Fighters, Hyderabad Heroes, The Warriors, and Telangana Bullets. The women’s teams are Warriors Women and Wonder Women.

    Dr. Jitender concluded by emphasizing that the tournament aims to encourage the talents of visually impaired athletes and raise awareness and support for them in the wider community.
