Nizamabad: Following the Supreme Court’s order, a three-member committee has lowered the gates of the Babli project in Maharashtra.

This is a yearly process that helps manage the flow of water from the upstream Sriramsagar project. The gates were closed at 11 AM and will be fully shut by evening.

If there is heavy flooding upstream, one gate may be opened to release extra water. Otherwise, all the gates will stay closed until March 1.

The committee responsible for this task included officials like SE Srinivas Rao from the Sriramsagar Project, EE Bun Sod from Nanded, and CWC EE Venkateswarlu. Other members involved were SRSP EE Chakrapani, DEE Ganesh, AEE Ravi, and CWC member Satish Kumar.
