Hyderabad: A party allegedly organized by KTR’s brother-in-law, Raj Pakala, on Saturday night has caused a political stir. On Sunday, former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao called the Director General of Police (DGP) to discuss the matter. He objected to the police raids on the homes of Sailendra Pakala and other locations, saying they were conducted without a search warrant. KCR believed that the raids were politically motivated, aiming to target KTR.
K T Rama Rao (KTR), the working president of the BRS, also condemned the police action. He stated that the event in question was not a rave party, but a house-warming celebration he had organized. He explained that the gathering included elderly people, relatives, and children, and was a family affair. KTR emphasized that Raj Pakala’s mother was also present at the event.
KTR admitted that alcohol might have been consumed, but denied that it was a rave party. He further explained that out of all the people present, only one person tested positive for drugs, while 12 others did not. He questioned where the drugs had been consumed and pointed out that the officials did not find any drugs at the scene. He claimed the government was targeting him and the BRS for political reasons.
In support of KTR, Balka Suman, another BRS leader, suggested this was part of a political strategy. He hinted that this might be one of the “bombs” that Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy had mentioned during his recent trip to Seoul.
On the other side, BJP leaders demanded that the police release CCTV footage from the event to clarify what happened. However, the police reported that the CCTV camera cables had been disconnected, raising further questions.
As part of the investigation, Raj Pakala was asked to appear for questioning at the Excise office at 10 am and at the Mokila police station at 2 pm. However, he did not attend either session, and the police said his phone was switched off. The authorities mentioned they would wait until Monday before deciding whether to issue a warrant for his arrest.
Excise Enforcement Director Kamalhasan Reddy provided details about the raid. He said that 40 people, including 14 women, were present at the party. The police also seized 12 imported bottles of liquor, some of which came from New Delhi and Maharashtra, along with 11 bottles of KF Ultra beer. A case has been filed under various sections of the Excise Act at the Chevella Excise police station.
