Hyderabad: BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) leaders are set to attend public hearings by the Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) in various parts of Telangana, including Hyderabad. According to party officials, S Madhusudhana Chary, the Leader of Opposition in the Council, will be present at the hearing in Hyderabad.

BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) mentioned that he, along with former MP B Vinod Kumar and MLC L Ramana, will attend the public hearing at Sircilla. In Nizamabad, MLA Prashant Reddy and some former MLAs will represent the party during the hearing.

A day earlier, BRS leaders met with the Chairman of the Electricity Regulatory Commission, Sri Ranga Rao. They strongly opposed the proposed increases in electricity tariffs.

KTR highlighted a few concerns, saying some of the proposals were unreasonable. For example, the fixed charges for domestic users consuming over 300 units might rise from Rs 10 to Rs 50. Additionally, a single uniform tariff slab is being suggested for all industrial categories, from small businesses (MSMEs) to large industries, which the party finds unfair.
