Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader T Harish Rao has accused the Finance Minister, M Bhatti Vikramarka, of misleading the public about the loans taken by the Congress government.

According to Rao, the Congress government has borrowed Rs 80,000 crore in the last ten months. He pointed out that while the Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka claimed in a press release that the government had borrowed Rs 49,618 crore, the actual figure is much higher.

Rao explained that, based on a Legislative Assembly Question (LAQ), the government had also guaranteed Rs 24,887.71 crore in loans as of July 26, 2024. Additionally, the Telangana State Cooperative Apex Bank (TSCAB) took Rs 5,000 crore from the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC).

Rao also criticized the Congress government for failing to fully implement its promises. He mentioned that while Rs 17,809 crore was allocated for farm loan waivers, less than 50 percent of this amount has reached the intended beneficiaries, as revealed by an RTI response from the State Bank of India (SBI).
