Hyderabad: The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for the North Zone held a meeting on Wednesday with the owners and managers of lodges and hotels in the area.

During the meeting, the DCP emphasized the importance of taking proper precautions to ensure the safety of the public. The hotel and lodge management were warned that any negligence in following safety measures could lead to strict legal action.

The DCP gave several important instructions. First, it was stressed that all hotels and lodges must maintain a visitor register and submit daily entries to the local police station. Additionally, they were instructed to keep records of ID proof for all guests staying at the premises.

Installing CCTV cameras with backup is required under the Public Safety Act, and all establishments must comply with this rule. The management was also told that if they plan any commercial events, they must inform the police and get the necessary permissions.

Furthermore, if any illegal activities, such as prostitution or drug peddling, were found on the premises, the management would be held responsible. The DCP also advised hotel and lodge owners to ensure they have sufficient security measures, such as guards and metal detectors, in place.

The police highlighted a recent incident where a hotel under the Gopalapuram police station area was used to host large gatherings for a month, without proper permissions. One participant of the gathering was involved in the desecration of a local temple. The event organizer, Munawar Zama, had rented over 50 rooms, claiming to offer English-speaking and personality development classes. However, neither the organizer nor the hotel informed the local authorities.

As a result, the police suspended the trade license of Hotel Metropolis and sealed it. A case was also registered against both the event organizer and the hotel management.
