Khammam: Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, who oversees the State Revenue, Information, Public Relations, and Housing Department, visited Thirumalayapalem Mandal in Paleru Constituency on Tuesday. During his visit, he inaugurated a new Gram Panchayat building in Jallepalli village.
The building was constructed at a cost of Rs 20 lakhs. Speaking at the event, the Minister expressed his satisfaction with the completion of the building and emphasized that local issues would be addressed soon.
Ponguleti also spoke about government welfare schemes. He assured the people that all eligible candidates would benefit from these schemes through the Family Digital Card. He further announced that Indiramma houses would be sanctioned by the end of October, and a survey would be conducted as part of a pilot project to issue family cards. These cards would help people access various welfare schemes, including ration cards, Arogya Shri, pensions, and loan waivers.
The Minister also promised that necessary CC roads in the village would be completed within a year. Reassuring farmers, he said that those with loans up to Rs 2 lakhs need not worry, as their loans would soon be waived.
Additional Collector P Sreeja also addressed the gathering, stating that efforts are being made to establish a Panchayat building in every village in the district. She assured that new buildings would be approved where needed, and ongoing projects would be completed with the Minister’s support.
Sreeja highlighted the importance of having a Panchayat building, saying it would serve as a useful space for meetings and solving local issues like roads and drainage. She also proposed setting up a reading room for local youth in the Panchayat building, with the district administration providing books and other resources.
Later, Rs 35 lakh 4 thousand 60 rupees was distributed to 35 beneficiaries under the Kalyanalakshmi scheme at the Tirumalayapalem MPDO office. Each couple received Rs 1 lakh 116 rupees. Additionally, the Minister handed over cheques worth Rs 17 lakh 28 thousand to 48 people under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Khammam RDO Ganesh, Tirumalayapalem Mandal Tahsildar Ramakrishna, MPDO Silar Sahebu, and other officials and public representatives were present at the event.
