Hyderabad: A group of regular walkers at the Public Gardens held a protest on Wednesday. They demanded that the heritage buildings in the garden be renovated and the overall beautification of the park be improved.
The protesters expressed frustration, noting that despite several requests and even orders from the Telangana High Court, the state government has not taken action to fix the garden’s worsening condition. They were particularly upset that the government recently allocated Rs 826 crores for KBR Park in Jubilee Hills but has neglected other parks in the city, including the Public Gardens.
The walkers called for immediate financial support to restore the Public Gardens, which has fallen into a state of disrepair. Important heritage buildings within the garden, like the YSR Archaeological Museum and Jawahar Bal Bhawan, are especially in need of attention. The park, established during the Nizam era, is not only historically significant but also serves as an important green space for the people of Hyderabad.
